Warm Winds Drive-In | L O S T A T L A S

Stop on by the shop on Monday, October 17, for our 2nd annual tailgating, drive-in, event! Weather permitting we are going to and set up an HD projector on the front of the building and show a MASSIVE surf flick blaring thru a giant PA system. It’s going to be classy. We are also going to have a bunch of food and beverage BBQ style…so come hungry….and of course there will be plenty of free gear to give away!!!
If the weather is absolute garbage, we will hold off on the event until October 24, the Monday of the following week.

“Last One Out” Live Show @ The Coast Guard House

Surf for the Cause’s mission is to facilitate and foster relationships between surfers, travelers, and people in impoverished coastal communities throughout the world. They are committed to joyfully serving the poor in these communities where surfers, in particular, are drawn because of the waves. They devote their energy and time as surfers to alleviate suffering, bring emotional uplift, inspire minds, restore joy, encourage and exemplify goodwill and love, all while traveling the world in search of the perfect wave.

Join them and help raise money that will go to providing direct support for an impoverished community in Nicaragua.

VOTE for JENNIE in the VZ Shop Girl Challenge!!!

Every shop claims to hold the hottest of the hotties and VonZipper loves to love the bold and the beautiful. This summer VZ is on the hunt to find the VZ shop girl of the year!

This year, Jennie from WARM WINDS has entered the second annual VZ shop girl challenge.

The rules are simple: Any VonZipper retailer can enter as many girls as they’d like, the only catch is that the contestants have to be shop employees at their local VZ dealer. The winner will be determined by an online vote at vonzipper.com. All entries must be submitted by 7/31/2011 with the winner being chosen 8/8/2011.

The prizes: The winning shop will receive $500.00 worth of VonZipper goodies to retail as they please, a glorious perpetual trophy and the all-important bragging rights as the holder of the hottest shop hottie. Five random shop stunners will receive a pair of VonZipper shades of their choice, with the grand prize winner receiving a year’s supply of VonZipper awesomeness, the chance to be a VZ spokesperson, and the all important title of VZ shop girl of the year.

Endless Abilities Fundraising Event Photos!

On June 10th, 2011 our friends at Wind Powered Productions screened their latest documentary, Endless Abilities. The film began to tell the story of disabled sporting across New England. Through surfing, sailing, and skiing, people with disabilities have found a new motivation to live life to the fullest. The cameras followed Zachary Bastian, a local surfer from Narragansett, who lost the use of his legs seven years ago. In the past nine months, Endless Abilities has introduced him to heros such as Maureen McKinnon-Tucker, an Paralympic sailing gold medalist, Geoff Krill, a professional US ski instructor, and Eli Wolff, a Brown University professor working on social justice for the disabled.

The event was a huge success. Hundreds of friends and family came out to show support and tons of local artists and businesses stepped up by donating items for the silent auctions and raffles to help raise money to continue with the movie. Zack and his friends deserve all the credit though and did an amazing job setting it all up to be one of the best events all summer. For those of you who made it, thank you!
